Mrs Pettigrew Lives for a Day
Roadshow Films
Now on DVD
Amy Adams
Frances McDormand
Set in London in 1939, this film looks at the glamorous and social life of an American star and the men who love her. When an unsuspecting Mrs Pettigrew applies for a new job with the star, her life will change in 24 hours.
Amy Adams shines in her role as Delysia Lafosse, the over the top and charming actress living in London. Mrs Pettigrew a new unemployed governess sneaks her way into high society by posing as a social secretary.
Delysia finds herself in a love triangle and when she meets Mrs Pettigrew she enlists her services to help make things right. Delysia has men coming in and out of her life every day but this day will be different.
Mrs Pettigrew is now a beautiful and classy woman with the help of new clothes and a makeover thanks to Delysia Lafosse. While at a fashion event Mrs Pettigrew meets a rich and handsome man named Joe who becomes immediately infatuated with her.
This is a brilliant film from the cast to the script and the London setting. Amy Adams who is best known from the film Enchanted really shines here. I can’t wait to see her in her next film Doubt. As expected Frances McDormand is brilliant and puts in another stellar performance.
