The Eye is the Hollywood remake of the Hong Kong film Jian Gwai. When a young woman played by Alba receives an eye transplant she is able to see spirits in the dark. The idea is a good one but sometimes it takes more than a good idea or a remake to create a good film. The Eye had its good and bad points.

Blinded by an accident when she was young Sydney Wells now ahs the chance to see again. After receiving an eye transplant, her vision is restored along with strange dreams and visions. It is not made clear during the film if the visions are from her past or her future.

The story moves along painfully slow, with only a few good scary moments throughout the film. If you are afraid of the supernatural, ghost’s in particular then you will find these moments in the film terrifying. Determined to find out what is causing these visions Sydney asks her doctor to track down the eye donor.

The donor was a young Mexican girl. Sydney and her doctor travel to Mexico to find out the shocking cause for her visions and the history of the donor. The ending was better than I thought it would be, as we find out the truth as to why the young girl committed suicide.
