Girls just Wanna Have Fun 80’s pop star and gay icon Cyndi Lauper will be performing on the Australian Idol final 12 show this Sunday, and also offering her talent to the 12 Idol hopefulls remaining.

Although this is a first time appearance on Aussie Idol for Lauper, she;s no stranger to the  Idol competition, previously stepping in as a freelance singing coach on the Canadian version of Idol. The Time After Time singer says she’ll be focusing on positive improvement rather than empty criticism.

“Because I have studied singing most of my life, naturally I can look at them and figure out what it is that they need to do,” says Lauper.

“I am doing it to help the ones who really want to sing.”

It's excellent timing for Lauper who can use the tv op promote her new album Bring Ya To The Brink.
