Showtime has revealed there will be a spin-off series to the L Word, and the L Word itself will continue in online episodes.
Showtime is currently working on creating a spinoff series to "The L Word," which will kick off its sixth and final season early next year.
Series creator Ilene Chaiken is in the early stages of development regarding the spinoff, which Showtime’s president of entertainment, Robert Greenblatt has stated will star one of the "L Word" actresses.
The identity of the chosen actress has not yet been revealed to the cast, Greenblatt said during the Television Critics Assn. press tour at the Beverly Hilton on Friday.
When questions came pressing for more details, he replied: "We're still forming it. I'm sure I have a million e-mails already from loyal viewers about it, but we're still in the process of figuring it out."
Following the announcement that "The L Word" will end following it’s 6th season, we now know that the season will end with an open-ended story line that will continue online. Should the spinoff get picked up by a network, the story line will continue in the as-yet-untitled project, Greenblatt said.
