This groundbreaking Television series is now available for the first time in Australia thanks to Beyond Home Entertainment. Released in the mid nineties this series was hugely popular dealing with many issues in an open and honest way. This series also launched the careers of Clair Danes and Jared Leto.

Danes plays Angela Chase a 15 year old high schooler dealing with family and falling in love for the fist time. Angela is ready to make some big changes in her young life. She has ditched her best friend, changed her hair colour and is hanging around an alternative crowd at school.

Jordan played by Jared Leto remains the object of Angela’s affection, yet he doesn’t even know she exists. Angela’s parents are having issues of their own as they feel they can’t relate to their daughter no matter how hard they try. While these stories might sound like something from a typical soap opera, My So called Life delivers the emotion and maturity rarely seen in teen dramas.

This series failed to gather a large audience on its original airing but proved to be popular when released on DVD and subsequent Television reruns across America and Canada. The characters are realistic and this comes across well onscreen. Teen angst is something that we all relate to and this is what makes this show so unique to watch.
