After having moderate success with broadcasting two American seasons, it was the first time that Australian dancers showed what they were made of in So You Think You Can Dance. The first episode of the series has experienced major success, breaking records for broadcaster Network Ten in the process.

So You Think You Can Dance has become the highest rating premiere during the summer ratings period for Ten, with 1.83 million people in metro areas tuning in, peaking at 2.15 million viewers, and had significant victories in Ten’s key demographics; 16-39 and 18-49.

“So You Think You Can Dance Australia has quick-stepped its way into the hearts of millions as last night's ratings confirm,” Ten Chief Programming Officer David Mott said.

“We're confident we have a hit on our hands and Australians will continue to turn on in droves to relish this type of high-spirited, energetic dance fun.”

Ten will be hoping for similar results in coming weeks due to ratings season having not yet started; it commences this Sunday.
