These Monday nights don’t get any easier, from a dancer point of view and a reviewer/ addict’s. Natalie finally looks good (curls in hair, sensible dress) but her demeanour still is like that of a five year old fanatic. She predictably cheers on the crowd every single time she comes on stage as if the whole concept of So You Think You Can Dance is new to her. I know it’s impossible not to compare her to Cat Deely but Cat is way more cooler. Nat is still at the two dimensional stage.

So, straight into it, Natalie hands the verdict down to Rhiannon and JD, Camilla and Anthony and amazingly enough Kate and Graeme. A huge surprise was seeing Kate and Graeme in the Bottom Three after how poorly Henry and Vanessa’s dance was received by the judges last night. Henry and Vanessa must’ve gained a huge following since the competition began that keeps them out of trouble week after week.

Watching Kate dance made me cringe, knowing she had a twinge in her neck. She threw herself everywhere during her dance for her life, flinging her neck one way and her back another. Whilst the judges were talking to Natalie, the cameras kept flicking to a tearful Rhiannon, who obviously doubted her place in the top ten. It’s okay sweety! I’m rooting for you! Just not your hips.

We have our Top Ten dancers but at such a cost.

Jason totally killed all of us, after Kate was given the green light, leaving Camilla and Rhiannon shaking with anxiety. He yabbered on for what seemed like hours before tearfully telling Camilla that her dream was over. Her lasting words to her fellow dancers echoed her maturity and dedication to dancing. “Rip it up,” she told them before bursting into tears.

Onto the boys, Jason made Graeme laugh, telling him he was in the top ten. It must’ve been a massive shock. And there was yet another speech (is anyone else getting sick of hearing Jason talk?), before announcing that Anthony was also through to the top ten, leaving JD without a spot. His usual stoicism was broken after watching a montage of his SYTYCD journey and he sniffed his way through comments about hard working dancers.

There was almost not a dry eye in the house by the end of the show as the judges wiped their eyes and Natalie tried hard not to let her mascara run. In two more weeks time the journey to crowning Australia’s favourite dancer will continue and either Rhiannon, Anthony, Rhys, Jemma, Jack, Demi, Henry, Vanessa, Kate and Graeme will have that honour. We have our Top Ten dancers but at such a cost.
