Out they come. Ten dancers performing the opening dance, unbeknownst to two of them that this would be their last time together. Despite the strength of these last dancers doing this hip hop number, it was completely noticeable that we were missing half of what we started with. Natalie wastes no time getting on stage to break it to us what we already know, that one girl and one boy had to go home.
Demi straight up was safe. Jemma, watching the review of last night, deteriorated into tears again and it has to be said that hearing all the terrible responses from the judges in one fell swoop was disheartening to say the least, and that is from the point of view of someone who wasn’t there and wasn’t her. You’re alright by me, Jemma! The other girl joining Jemma in the bottom four was Rhiannon, leaving Kate and Vanessa to stand beside Demi in the safety zone.
I think I may have a clue as to why Rhiannon doesn’t get as many votes as the others to stay on this show: those hips, those bony, Pink-ish, non-flattering hips! Don’t wear trackies Rhiannon! They do nothing for ya, girl!
Onto the boys! Rhys, with the most fantastic makeup yet, basically humped everyone when he found out he was safe, AGAIN. Jack soon joined him as did Henry. Knowing that either Graeme or Anthony was going home blew me away. The reality of this competition now is that it’s not up to ability with these dancers anymore; it’s up to popularity amongst the Australian public.
those hips, those bony, Pink-ish, non-flattering hips!
In the break, Delta brought out a ripper live performance of ‘You Will Only Break My Heart’, strutting around in amazing black high heels yet still oozing the girl-next-door attitude which I love about her. She has got to be the best outside performance on SYTYCD to date.
The ‘dance for your life’ segment has now turned into ‘the last dance’, where their solos have no bearing on Australia’s decision and is just about saying goodbye. First up with the 30 second solo was Jemma who looked freer and happier than her solo last night (too bad that it doesn’t matter this point in time). Anthony popped out some tricks, smiling his irrepressible smile throughout which it is what we love him for.
Being her fire cracker little self was Rhiannon, stating that the weirdest thing happened to her on stage without actually specifying what it was and so now, it’s killing me! I wanna know what happened! It was Graeme who had the surprise of the night, performing a hip hop routine completely out of his genre which was refreshing to see.
I think Jemma had already made her peace with her inevitable demise as she nodded her head in acceptance and kept a strong smile on her face. Nothing seems to faze Anthony as his face beamed throughout his goodbye speech, appealing to the Australian public that if they liked what they were seeing, to get up off their ass and dance! We’re down to eight, only four weeks to go!
