It’s getting harder and harder, coming into the elimination show. You get so caught up and involved with most of these dancers that it’s hard to see them go. It’s just not fair sometimes dammit! Anyway, it’s great that they get a final group dance that doesn’t get judged. How cute was tonight’s opening number? A jazzy funk choreographed by …. had the dancers mocking the judges with placards at one point and was simply a joy to watch.
Out come the girls, ready for the worst (and Rhiannon looking hotter than last night if possible). So we get the news; either Rhiannon or Vanessa is going home tonight while Kate and Demi miss the guillotine. The boys roll on out next (with Rhys going sailor-boy, complete with crazy yellow mascara) and were told that Jack and Rhys could come back next week, leaving Henry and Graeme to do a solo each, one of which would be their last.
The interval brought out One Republic to perform their second number one hit “Stop and Stare” which is hilarious because they were in concert in New Zealand just the night before (after Maroon 5 cancelled the NZ part of the tour that they were going to support See Here). This version was such a softer mellower one than the original release and seemed a little depressing (having said that, One Republic did perform “Apologize” on the American SYTYCD last year which isn’t the most upbeat song on their album either).
Maybe after Dance is over, he could try out for Australian Idol?
Onto the solos! Rhiannon’s didn’t do much for me but her outfit was enough to show off her talents*cough*. Damn that bikini top was sexy! With tight tight black pants on, Henry pulled out everything that we didn’t know he had, including some hip hop moves and a flip at the end that reminded us of Anthony. Vanessa has such grace and flow in her solos that hasn’t wavered one iota since the beginning of the show. And Graeme just threw out some Michael Jackson moves in his solo, singing to Natalie at the end that he was “calm, cool and collected, baby”. Maybe after Dance is over, he could try out for Australian Idol?
Rhiannon burst straight into tears upon hearing her name. She was gritting her teeth and was so preparing herself for the worst, waiting for Natalie to announce who was going home. She did amazingly well to get so far, being the youngest girl. Hopefully she learns to pull her trackies up but I am gonna miss the little firecracker. Henry is also going home, not able to hide his disappointment with the decision. He couldn’t even crack a smile while the judges were praising him.
Six left. I don’t think I can bare much more of this.
