The Australian production of the Broadway hit musical, Avenue Q will now play at the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne until early August. The premiere season was originally planned to run until 28 June, but as ticket sales continue to build, due to strong word of mouth, the season will now extend until 2 August.
The production, starring Michala Banas and Mitchell Butel, and directed by Jonathan Biggins, opened on 4 June to strong reviews and a wonderful audience response. The Australian production is mirroring the success of the Broadway and West End productions.
Executive Producer, Jarrod Carland said: "Melbourne audiences have been absolutely loving Avenue Q - the word of mouth and buzz around town has been incredible. It's a joy to bring such a unique, funny, warm-hearted show to Australia and we're looking forward to a long and successful tour".
Producers have deliberately keep ticket prices as affordable as possible proving particularly popular is the $44.90 last minute ticket deal from two hours before show time, daily.
