Mayhem, mischief and a magnificent midget

Come one, come all to the internationally acclaimed and Melbourne born Circus Oz. At first I was sceptical- a circus with no animals?? What are they thinking? But right from the start of this energetic, hilarious, action and humour packed show I was blown away. The cast consisted of 12 strong, fit, acrobatic and musical performers that lit up the stage with their every move, enticing the audience as they went to use their imagination and believe.

 Of the 12-strong cast, stand outs were Mel Fyfe- a strong woman, who lifted up, 7 people simultaneously for a generous few minutes, and was tap danced on by a short statured lady while being encased in razor sharp nails. Emma J Hawkins- The Short statured woman (standing just over a metre high) was also impressive, with her wonderful pair of stilt legs and an amazing sense of timing and humour.

 Stand out acts of the night were: balancing acts- including 12 people on the one bike, the strong woman sandwiched between two beds of nails, wonderful music from the band and a 6 person juggling act and a final finale involving the whole cast, setting the being alight while performing acrobatics.

 Circus Oz went for over 2 hours, it had everyone in stitches and the aerial performers were without doubt incredibly graceful in their movements. The show was stunning and captivating. 

 I hadn’t laughed so much in years, the whole night’s entertainment was a welcome reminder of a wholesome classic night out guaranteed to entertain all… not to mention buff eye candy ;-)

Circus Oz: Barely Contained is aptly named, for the performances were uninhibited, and as for the humour, well I could barely contain myself….
