Warriors of Brazil heat up Melbourne

Warriors of Brazil

Needing a little action in your life? Always thought you should’ve taken up samba dancing? Or do you simply want to see half naked guys on stage? Well then you need to come along to Warriors of Brazil at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne where all those unfulfilled desires will manifest in front of your eyes and have you hollering for more.

What’s described as the secret to winning the Soccer World Cup five times is Capoeira, the style of dance and movement, highlighted with ritual sparring and apparently used by the great Pele himself. Your eyes will not be able to keep up with the speed that these boys muster as they spin, leap, kick and shake their hips to the amazing beat of the band behind them.

Interspersed between the boys’ Capoeira is hip hopping, beat busting music delivered from Rhythm Carnival who have worked with popular performers such as Santana, The Fugees, Ricky Martin, Sergio Mendes and The Black Eyed Peas.

Perhaps the most encouraging sign is the fact that the boys have emerged from some of the most violent ghettos in Brazil and are now a part of the social development program that is Warriors of Brazil. It is a liberating positive sign of creation and dance, rather than of aggression and destruction. As the group traverse the world with their performance, they carry with them the brilliance and celebration of their culture, inviting us all to come and dance with them.

Embrace Australia’s multicultural opportunities and come join in the celebration of Brazil!
