It is rare that we get such a theatrical treat, and leave the theatre smiling. This is most definitely the case with Scarlett O'Hara at the Crimson Parrot. A whimsical romantic fantasy about a nervous girl, Scarlett O'Hara (her mum was obsessed with Gone With the Wind) and her obsession with classic films and her escape into her fantasy world, but unfortunately it seems like she's going to miss what's happening right under her nose.

Caroline O'Connor is one of this country's greatest theatre stars. She has it all and gives her all in her performance as the down-on-her-luck Scarlett. Caroline is a fine comidienne and has a face like elastic. She brings incredible heart and slapstick skill both equally as strong. Supporting the lovely Ms O'Connor is a fantastic line up of names including MTC favourite, Bob Hornery, Andrew McFarlane, Marney McQueen (fresh from her role as Marion in Priscilla The Musical), Simon Wood, Matt Day and the evergreen Monica Maughan as Scarlett's larrikin mother.

David Williamson is one of our most prominent playwrights, and he has hit the nail on the head with this offering, also being his newest, and what a better forum to test it out in than that of the Melbourne Theatre Company stage?

It is a pure treat, playing at the Arts Centre Playhouse until 12th July.
