The Foodies’ Guide to Sydney 2009
The third edition of The Foodies’ Guide to Sydney is about to hit the shelves for 2009. Authors Helen Greenwood and John Newton have again sought out and listed details and descriptions for more than 400 of the city’s finest food shops.
This comprehensive guide contains more than 30 chapters listing the best places to buy everything from pastries to hand made pasta, artisan breads and cheeses, the freshest fish and the pick of the country’s fruit and vegetables – with an emphasis on the finest local produce.
The Foodies’ Guide to Sydney 2009 is a must-have for locals and visitors alike. In a format that begins with ‘A’ for Asian and ends with ‘W’ for World Food, readers can navigate the guide by category or suburb and then find their way to each location using the handy maps at the back of the book.
The Foodies’ Guide to Sydney 2009 also reveals the winners of the Foodies’ Awards and Foodies’ Achievement Awards. Greenwood and Newton acknowledge the best in the business according to three criteria: excellence of offer, product knowledge and the pleasure of the retail experience. The two categories of awards recognise different areas of retail achievement.
Foodies’ Awards go to vendors who offer superior produce and service, and Foodies’ Achievement Awards have been given to retailers who lift Sydney’s food standards by their dedication and cultural contribution.
On Monday, October 20 at 7pm, The Foodies’ Guide to Sydney 2009 editors Helen Greenwood and John Newton will officially celebrate the launch of this years guide with a sustainable dining event held at Bilson’s Number One Wine Bar, 1 Alfred Street, Circular Quay. Tickets are $100 including three courses with matching Brown Brothers Wines. Call
