November 2nd 2007 sees a new chapter in the proud live music history of Sydney Uni…(drum roll)… introducing Sounds In The Grounds,
a brand spanking new annual, boutique festival, showcasing some of the country’s finest talent, across two stages within the confines of the Sydney University campus.
The inaugural cast includes:
Gotye, Salmonella Dub (NZ), Wolf & Cub,
Urthboy, I Heart Hiroshima, Bluejuice, The Tongue, The Basics + more…
The release of Like Drawing Blood has cemented Gotye in the Australian music scene and scored him tonnes of accolades including a J Award nomination, the Herald Sun album of the year and a place in Rolling Stone’s 100 greatest songs of 2006.
New Zealand’s Salmonella Dub headline the second stage in their only Sydney show bringing their own brand of dub, and featuring songs from their recently released album Heal Me.
The dueling drum kits of the Adelaide juggernaut Wolf & Cub will also be joining the party at Sounds in the Grounds, as will new indie darlings Bluejuice and I Heart Hiroshima, both currently enjoying high rotation on Triple J and FBi with their singles Vitriol and Punks.
Sparking up the crowd with their lyrical flair will be the latest protégés out of Australia’s most prominent Hip Hop stable Elefant Traks, Urthboy and The Tongue. All this plus The Basics and a couple more we’ve kept up our sleeves for the second announcement…
