Tegan and Sara - NSW
Canadian twins, Tegan and Sara return to Australia in December 2007 to tour and support the release of THE CON, their follow up album to the hugely successful 2004 album SO JEALOUS – named one of the 50 best albums of 2004 by Rolling Stone magazine.
Co-produced by Christopher Walla (Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists) with Tegan Quin and Sara Quin, the record was cut in Portland, Oregon at Walla's Alberta Court studio. Having taken a break after the success and non-stop touring behind SO JEALOUS, Tegan and Sara spent months apart while continuing to write and record songs that would eventually make the cut on THE CON. Using their self-produced home recordings as the template for the final recording process with Walla, they collaborated with Death Cab's Jason McGerr on drums along with AFI's Hunter Burgan and The Rentals’ Matt Sharp, both on bass.
Tegan and Sara will take their show on the road in Australia this December with some special guests to be announced.
“…Somehow “The Con" is even more obsessive-sounding than Tegan and Sara's earlier work, and it's probably even better; it could well be one of the year's best albums. One typically transfixing song, ‘Relief Next to Me’, begins with a forthright admission over an electronic bass line: "I miss you now/I guess, like I should have missed you then."
Then guitars tangle and knot, building to a stubborn, weirdly triumphant chorus: "But I promise this/I won't go my whole life telling you I don't need - ." You wait for the last word, then realize you've already heard it…There are plenty of albums to like, but this (fittingly enough) is one to obsess over.” NEW YORK TIMES
The Con is digitally available now and due in stores August 4th 2007 through Warner Music Australia.
