Clare Anderson has donated $1500 to the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) after receiving a ‘Spirit of Excellence’ award as an employee of Powercor Australia.
Ms Anderson, Bendigo Customer Contact Centre Manager, was one of a select group of Powercor employees officially recognised by the internal employee awards and rewarded for their outstanding contribution to the company, customers and her local community.
Under the ‘Spirit of Excellence’ awards program, Powercor provides winners with a sum of money to donate to a charity or community group of their choice.
Ms Anderson received her award due to her outstanding leadership skills in the workplace and her ability to stay calm during crisis scenarios – resulting in a harmonious team environment that stays calm under pressure.
Ms Anderson said she was excited that her work had been recognised and was grateful for the opportunity to give to such a worthwhile cause.
“I chose to donate to the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation as they are an organisation that changes people’s lives on a daily basis, by giving financial and emotional assistance to people living with HIV,” Ms Anderson said.
Bev Lange, CEO of the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, thanked Ms Anderson for her generous donation, saying it would make a very important contribution to directly helping BGF’s clients: people living in poverty with HIV.
“If you want to equate this donation to the impact that it can have, Ms Anderson’s $1500 gift will pay for one month’s supply of essential HIV medications for 100 of our clients. Both Ms Anderson and Powercor Australia should be proud of their commitment to a marginalised group of people directly disadvantaged by HIV.”
The “Spirit of Excellence’ Awards, now in their thirteenth year, are part of Powercor’s ongoing commitment to recognise and reward the efforts of their many employees.
Established in 1984, the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) is Australia’s oldest HIV charitable organisation. Formed by friends to help a friend, BGF reflects the history of a deep, shared commitment towards making a valuable difference in the lives of people living with HIV.
