The City of Auckland was brought to a standstill for the second time in a many months, only this time the truckies gave way to topless women on motorbikes.
A mainly male audience numbered in the tens of thousands lined the sidewalk of downtown Auckland's Queen Street to watch the "Boobs on Bikes" parade, where as many as 30 partially naked women, some drag queens and even a couple of topless men rode in procession on motorcycles or open-topped cars.
Every possible vantage point along queen st, including phone booths, bus shelters, balconies and even parked trucks was occupied by onlookers, armed at the ready with cameras and mobile phones .
Although the majority of onlookers seemed to appreciate the display, the annual event almost didn't go ahead thanks to a last minute appeal at a legal injuction brought by city officials. Boobs on Bikes promoter Steve Crow ended victorious and the result can be seen in the pictures!
Prior to the parade however, around 100 protesters showed their objection by carrying a banner reading ``Pornography fuels sexual violence against women and children”.
