Sadly, and despite continual police warnings for safety, the Australian national road toll for the Easter long weekend has recently risen to 14.
Of all the states and territories, Queensland has the highest tally, with the death of another motorcyclist bringing it to 5.
In the latest accidents, a pedestrian was killed north of Brisbane, shortly before two children were killed in a single vehicle accident near Toowoomba in south-east Queensland.
Meanwhile, a woman died when a car rolled-over in Tom Price 1,500 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia.
This brings the recorded state tallies to three fatalities in Tasmania and in Western Australia, and one each in Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
New South Wales and the ACT remain without recorded fatality.
In 2007, 13 people were killed in road accidents over the entire Easter holiday period.
