With having their medal contentions quashed, pride was on the line for Australia when they took to the court, and they delivered with a 38 point thumping of Iran during the sixth day of the Beijing Olympics.

Brad Newley took charge for the Boomers scoring 24 points, with all twelve Australian players scoring points in their 106-68 win.

After having a 16-3 start, the Australians took charge and at one stage had a lead of 43 points.

In the days other big match, the United States trailed for much of the first term to prevail over Greece by 23 points.

Kobe Bryant and Chris Bosh both top scored for the 'Dream Team' with 18 points each, helping their team to a 92-69 victory.
