It was all about the number three during women's softball on day six of the Beijing Olympics, with three games being played, and each winning team scoring three runs.
Australia scored three runs across their first two innings and always looked in control, defeating China 3-1. China's sole run came in the third inning. (Have you spotted the trend at this point?)
Japan scored two runs in their first innings and one run in their fifth as they cruised to a 3-nil victory over the Netherlands, with Japan not needing to bat their final inning.
Also not needing to bat their final inning was Chinese Taipei after they posted a comfortable 3-nil victory over Venezuela. Chinese Taipei scored two runs in their first inning, and their final run in the fourth inning.
It was also each team's third match of the Beijing Olympics. Whoever said things always come in three's was today right on the money.
Five matches are scheduled to be played tomorrow, including the United States versus Canada match, which was rescheduled earlier today to 2.45pm local time on Friday.
