Lest we forget: Harvey Milk

Despite spending less than a year in office, Harvey Milk is still praised as one of the world’s most recognizable gay advocates to date.

Throughout the 1970’s, Milk dedicated his time to ensuring the wellbeing and democracy for San Francisco’s GLBT residents, and his efforts subsequently lead to his election as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on 8 January 1978. Milk was assassinated just eleven months later.

Milk is considered to be a martyr for gay rights, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
