Ok so I know almost everyone is in full Olympics mode (ever realised how addictive watching the Olympics really is?!), even us here at GenQ. But we realise we have to keep up with at least some other news so take 5 and catch up around the world..

PERTH, AUSTRALIA - Teacher jailed for filming in boys toilets

A former sports instructor at a private boys' school in Perth was jailed for four-and-a-half years in the District Court today for a string of sex offences. Daniel John Privilege, 25, of Padbury, will have to serve a minimum of two-and-a-half years before possible release on parole. Described as being “obsessed with sex”, Privilege pleaded guilty last month to more than 70 sex charges.

The name of the school and some of the details of the charges have been suppressed however the majority of the charges related to the indecent recording of boys when they were in a toilet cubicle at the school. He used his mobile phone to film the boys through a hole in the wall.

Gay couple's three-day hitch
It took one of the first lesbian couples to legally marry in California just 3 days to file for divorce.  Theresa Ramirez and Adelita Guajardo were married in Fresno County on June 27.  A mere three days later, Ms Ramirez filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences".
Veteran divorce attorney Norm Fletcher said the legalising of gay marriages could have an unexpected effect on relationships. "(It can be that) it's no longer you and me against the world - it's you and me against each other," Mr Fletcher said.

UK - JK Rowling to release series of fairy tales  

JK Rowling has released a collection of short stories in the UK which were sold out by lunchtime. What’s Your Story? has a new Harry Potter tale and has become the fastest-selling collection of short stories of all time in the UK.

Coming in December however, the author is going to publish The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which is a series of fairy tales that were integral to the last of the Potter novels, The Deathly Hallows. The film version of the sixth book, The Half-Blood Prince, will be release in cinemas later this year also.

Paris Hilton Working On Superhero Cartoon

After becoming the media spotlight last week with her parody video responding to U.S. Presidential nominee John McCain, Paris Hilton has now revealed details of her plans to be a cartoon superhero for a new tv series.

In a recent interview, Hilton explained that she’s working with comic legend Stan Lee, the man behind such superheroes as Spider-man, Fantastic Four, The Hulk and X-Men, among others. “I’ve created a superhero with Stan Lee, which is [based on] me,” Hilton said. “We’re doing a cartoon right now with MTV.”

No air date has been revealed at the time of writing.
