Roger Federer and James Blake have both secured comfortable victories today to progress to the quarter finals of the Australian Open.
The Swiss world number one showed no signs of fatigue from his five set third round encounter to easily account for thirteenth seed Tomas Berdych from the Czech Republic; the match going less than half of the duration of Federer’s previous match.
Hitting forty-five winners and just seventeen unforced errors, the top seed of the men’s draw progressed smoothly.

James Blake also earned his semi final berth comfortably, despite hitting fewer winners than his opponent, unseeded Marin Cilic from Croatia.
Winning seventy-three percent of points on his second serve, seventeen unforced errors and no double faults gave the number twelve seed a straight sets victory in an hour and forty minutes.

Federer and Blake will now meet for a spot in the semi finals.
Meanwhile on Show Court 3 today, while they have not played professionally in a number of years, Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge aka ‘The Woodies’ teamed up in the Legends Doubles to defeat Pat Cash and John Fitzgerald in straight sets 6-1 6-4.
In the other Legends Doubles match that took place, the Australian duo of Paul McNamee and Peter McNamara were too strong for Guillermo Vilas of Argentina and Mats Wilander of Sweden, winning in straight sets 6-2 6-4.
