There is only one question about Michael Phelps that has not yet been answered; is there anything he can't do? The American has just won his sixth gold medal of the Beijing Olympics, winning the final of the men's 200m individual medley.
Phelps unsurprisingly broke the world record, to win in a time of 1:54.23, beating his previous world record by almost six tenths of a second.
Hungarian Laszlo Cseh set a European Record to claim the silver medal in a time of 1:56.52.
Fellow American Ryan Lochte, who was the fastest qualifier for the final, made it a 1-3 finish for the United States, claiming the bronze medal in a time of 1:56.53.
An honourable mention goes to Ken Takakuwa who set an Asian Record to finish fifth in the final in a time of 1:58.22.
Phelps has now won twelve Olympic gold medals in total, and is just one gold medal away from equalling Mark Spitz’s record of seven gold medals in one Olympic Games.
