It was two weeks in the making, and although such great things was expected from the US Open Grand Slam Final, all spectators really got was a demolition.

Swiss Ace Roger Federer tore through Scotsman Andy Murray by a score of 6-2, 7-5, 6-2, adding a fifth consecutive U.S. Open to his already packed Grand Slam title cabinet, some might call it lucky 13.

And although Murray showed such promise after his mammoth win over Rafael Nadal, it was always going to be a case of David Vs Golliath; Murray having never played in a Grand Slam Final before and Federer.. well.. nothing more need be said.

Federer began the game in much the same fashion as he did in his Semi-Final match against Novak Djokovic, with a ace down the middle with his first serve. And he continued to dominate the game in a way the scoreline reflects, starting and finishing the game extremely strong.

And although Federer won confortably, the match was not without it's interesting moments. At 2-2 in the second set, Murray quickly forced some break points and you could feel the tension rise a little. It was the second break point that could have changed the tone of the entire match. During a long rally, a Federer shot appeared to land just beyond the baseline but instead of being called out by officials, the play continued. Because it was mid-point, if  Murray challenged the call and lost, he would have lost the point. So he chose to keep playing, and Federer won the point soon after. Heartbreakingly for Murray, TV replays showed that Federer's shot on break point was out.

It "should have been my game," Murray said in his news conference. This "would not necessarily have won the match or anything, but it would have given me a bit of confidence. I wasn't really ahead in any of the set."

And there really was no looking back from Federer from there, as he closed the second set and stormed through the 3rd to take the match, and the title.
