Local police are investigating the death of a fourteen year old girl has committed suicide following anti-gay taunts.

The body of the young girl was found by a local in the Southwater area, with the teenager hanging herself from a tree with a scarf according to police reports.

Speaking to media on Thursday, classmates had said that the teenager had been continually harassed and bullied for more than a year.

“I knew Belinda was being bullied, but I didn't know how badly she had taken it. On the outside she was happy and bubbly,” one former classmate said.

It is believed that bullies continually referred to the fourteen year old as “a dyke”, and regularly reprimanded her for her appearance.

It is the second time in two years that a student has committed suicide at the same school following being the victim of bullying.
