 Are certain terms of our everyday language "derogatory" or not?? How far is "going too far" when people today are faced with being called certain derogatory names?  Learning to love our enemy is one hard lesson! Thousands of queer people have again descended on Brisbane's Fortitude Valley to celebrate the Big Gay Day summer street party, an annual event held in and around the Wickham Hotel. Although not deterred from attending (there being safety in numbers), few party goers could not fail to have their spirits dampened by the spate of queer attacks that have occurred in the Valley precinct in recent months, with at least two deaths reported.  Heterosexism: What is it and what effect does it have? You may not know this, but Heterosexism affects ALL of us, almost everyday. Whether it be on tv, a question from a friend or a physical attack, in this day and age it's hard to escape. Read more about heterosexism and how to combat it...  Cutters - Frustrations of youth Okay people, there are certain individuals who engage in the act of cutting themselves with a razor blade or some other sharp tool in order to bleed. People have different mechanisms of dealing with stress and negativity, some of which are damaging on different levels, such as smoking cigarettes, or drinking alcohol. But there is an esoteric group who persist on slicing and dicing their arms or legs in order to overcome what hardships they endure.
